Below the surface
Underground & Subsurface Detection
Underground utility survey — electromagnetic locating and GPR, with the scope and limits of each survey stated in the record.
Service scope
- Utility Detection & Locating
- GPR Survey
- Utility Mapping
Overview
Striking a buried cable or pipeline costs projects time, money and safety. SEC runs electromagnetic locating and ground penetrating radar surveys across a site, and issues the survey record as drawings and GIS layers for your designers and excavation crews, with the scope and limits of the survey stated alongside them.
Applications
Pre-excavation clearance
Utility sweeps before trenching, boring or piling.
Design-stage utility mapping
Composite utility plans for brownfield and urban design.
Asset verification
Survey over networks the client has already recorded, within the agreed scope.
SEC Capability
Multi-method surveys
Where the scope calls for it, more than one method is run over the same ground.
Surveyed, not sketched
Survey positions are established with GNSS and tied to project coordinates.
Honest classification
Results state how each item was arrived at, and say plainly where the survey did not resolve it.
Workflow & Methodology
- 01Records reviewExisting utility records and site history compiled.
- 02Field detectionSystematic EM and GPR coverage of the survey area.
- 03Positioning & markingDetected alignments surveyed and marked on the ground where required.
