DJI Zenmuse L2
Manufacturer and model: DJI Zenmuse L2
A LiDAR payload flown on a UAV platform to record ground and surface geometry as point measurements.
- SEC-owned
Overview
Imagery describes what a site looks like. A LiDAR payload records it as ranged points instead, so the surface is measured rather than derived from photographs.
The payload is flown as part of an aerial survey scope; its outputs feed the same processing chain as ground-based capture.
SEC applications
Terrain modelling
Producing terrain models within an agreed aerial survey scope.
Corridor survey
Recording route corridors as geometry for design and clearance review.
Volume work
Capturing stockpiles and earthworks as surfaces for volume calculation.
Workflow
01
Mission setup
The flight lines and ground control arrangement are set against the model the project needs.
02
Acquisition
The payload records returns along the planned lines while positioning references the data.
03
Point cloud processing
Returns are processed into a point cloud, which is then worked up into the surfaces the scope calls for.
04
Deliverable
Point clouds, surfaces and derived products are issued in the agreed formats.
Typical outputs
- Point cloud data
- Digital terrain and surface models
- Contours, sections and volume reports
